This is the piece we rebuild every year and change least. The body is knitted on a slow-running gauge that keeps the yarn under low tension, which is why it holds its shape long after a faster-made equivalent has gone baggy at the elbows. The collar is set with a separate rib rather than an overlocked fold, so it will not roll after washing. Fibre is single-origin merino from a co-operative of eleven farms outside Guimaraes, spun eleven kilometres from where it is knitted. Buttons are horn, sewn with a shank so they sit properly through a heavier placket. Every seam is allowanced for letting out, and our menders will do that free of charge for ten years after you buy it.
